Welcome to the oficial website of the I Caribbean conference on Advanced Functional Materials (I COMAC). The conference is to be held at Universidad del Magdalena, Santa Marta,Colombia during November 5-8, 2024. The purpose of the event is to become a forum for the exchange of information associated with scientific research carried out mainly in the Caribbean, as well as in the rest of Latin America in the broad field of condensed matter and materials science.

I CONMATT will consist of a plenary session where we expect the participation of at least one Nobel Prize laureate in physics, in addition to a broad participation of Latin American scientists, as well as guest speakers from Europe and the United States, additionally, we will have parallel sessions of short conferences and two poster sessions available to the entire academic community of our university.

Santa Marta is pure flavor. The city's diversity is evident in its landscape, people, and each and every aspect of its culture; it is a destination that truly embraces its visitors and makes them feel at home.

Santa Marta's beautiful terrain is its most distinguishing feature: its unforgettable landscapes in which the green foliage, blue sea, yellow sun and sand, and the contrast between the beaches and the white-peaked Sierra Nevada, make Santa Marta a must-see destination.

 

 

What is there to do in Santa Marta?

During your stay in Santa Marta, you don't want to miss your chance to learn about the remarkable culture of TAYRONA. To do so, you must visit the Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona. This nature reserve with crystal-clear waters, white sands, and incomparable sunrises is considered one of the most beautiful bays in America. The reserve is a peaceful, ideal place where the sound of the sea and Santa Marta's clean mountain air converge.

The Park has incredible beaches, each with its own unique charm that pulls in visitors to enjoy their weather, sun, and delicious cocktails. Some of the most well-known beaches include Cape San Juan; Bahía Concha, a beautiful resort with cabins and restaurants; Neguanje; and Cañaveral, with its camping area and beautiful beaches in the middle of Santa Marta's flourishing nature.

Only five minutes from the historic center of Santa Marta, you will find El Rodadero, a place with white sand beaches where the sand is slightly coarse and doesn't stick to your skin, and a clean, greenish-blue sea warmed by the heat of the sun.

In addition to its natural wealth, of which El Rodadero is also a part, Santa Marta has an impressive historic legacy represented in its architecture and the streets of downtown Santa Marta, which offer the idea route for visiting the Cathedral, the museums, and the Bastidas Boardwalk, where you can also enjoy a romantic sunset.

Another place you should add to your itinerary is the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, which was the last residence of Simón Bolívar and is considered one of Colombia's principal national monuments.

Take advantage of your daily excursions to sample some of Santa Marta's local dishes, such as chipi chipi (clam soup), fried fish, patacones (fried green plantains), arroz con coco (coconut rice), and cocadas (coconut macaroons).

Santa Marta is also the stage for celebrations like the Festivals of the Sea, which take place halfway through the year. The principal activities at these festivals are aquatic sports, accompanied by different cultural and musical activities.

The International Caribbean Theater Festival, which is at the end of August or beginning of September, and brings together national and international theater companies, is also held in Santa Marta.

If you consider yourself and adventurer, you can't miss out on your opportunity to practice extreme sports with the stunning natural setting of Santa Marta.

You can also visit the Sea Aquarium and Museum, where you can enjoy the marine world and the rich biodiversity of Colombia, as well as participating in entertaining activities like swimming with dolphins.

But one activity you won't want to miss out on for anything is visiting Taganga, where it seems that time stands still. In this town, there are no traces of industrialization, large hotel chains, or restaurant franchises. Everything in the town is artisanal, and the town's beautiful beaches offer a unique view that affirms the area's incredible diversity.

Accepted papers will be considered to be published in the journal Condensed Matter (ISSN 2410-3896) open access journal and published quarterly online by MDPI. Articles submitted for the Conference Proceedings must be according to the given template. To facilitate the production team and speed up the process of publishing the proceedings, it is recommended to submit both the source file (compressed in zip file format) and the camera ready file (in pdf format). The submission is performed at the on-line submission system.

Redes académicas – científicas y comunidades invitadas

Our conference will have the direct support of two universities in Europe, the University of Antwerp-Belgium and the University of Camerino-Italy, the magazine Condensed Matter category A2 (Minciences) and the MultiSuper Network, which is open to research groups or individual researchers working on topics of mutual interest, as well as related fields. The invited Universities and Multisuper network will drive the conference towards generating exchange, collaboration, cross-mentoring and facilitated knowledge transfer, including shared experimental and computational facilities, staff and student exchanges, joint funding proposals, etc.

How can i submit a new paper?

Log into your account. From the main menu select Authors -> Submissions and there select to create a new paper. Fill the given form and save it. Then select to add co-authos. After finishing, press the Submit button.

 How can i pay?

You can pay by credit card or bank transfer or even on site. In order to pay, select Authors -> Transactions. After payment, you can print the invoice from your account.

 Can i propose a Workshop?

You can propose for a workshop by submitting the title and a short description. After acceptance, you will be responsible for the submissions to your workshop and you will be one of the editors of the proceedings volume.

 What about certifications?

For every accepted paper, you can print the Certification of Acceptance. From the main menu select Authors -> Submissions. In every accepted paper there are buttons for printing the certification.

Can i review my details?

Yes. Select Authors -> Profile from the main menu. In the Surface address textbox, you can fill the information that will be printed in your invoice.
